2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup brown sugar (packed)
¾ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 ½ cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, mix flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In another bowl, whisk melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.

Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
Scoop dough (about 1½ tbsp each) onto baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
Cool on the tray for 5 minutes, then transfer to a rack.
