If you want a treat that’s impressive without hours in the kitchen, this homemade toffee is exactly what you need. With just butter, sugar, and a few optional toppings, you can create a crunchy candy that tastes like it came from a boutique sweet shop.

🧈 Ingredients

1 cup (225g) unsalted butter

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

¼ tsp salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk)

½ cup chopped nuts (almonds, pecans, or walnuts — optional)

🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare your pan

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Sprinkle chopped nuts on the bottom if you’re using them.

2. Make the toffee

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

Add sugar and salt.

Stir continuously until the mixture begins to boil.

Once boiling, stop stirring.

Cook until the mixture reaches a deep golden color (around 150°C / 300°F if using a thermometer).

This takes about 8–10 minutes.

3. Add vanilla

Remove from heat and carefully stir in the vanilla.

4. Pour and top

Immediately pour the hot toffee over the prepared baking sheet.

Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Let them sit for 1–2 minutes until melted, then spread smooth.

Add extra nuts on top if you like.

5. Cool and break

Allow the toffee to cool completely (about 20–30 minutes).

Break into pieces and enjoy!
